Half a season rest - still somehow the best

Written by The Modern Timurids at 10:43 22/1-2024

It had to come: due to stress, moving away, having my life be basically down the well all together, I was forced to stop with OCM for a bit. My riders, now devoid of any responsibility collectively went to the Caspian Sea to have a relaxing holiday in a city devoid of tourists, except for some from the UEA. Only Oswald Choquet went to see the Gate to Hell with a tour guide cause he said "It reminds me of home".

Regardless, early this season their unplanned and prolonged vacation was cut somewhat short with the announcement they were expected to show up at races to practice again. From Day 40 onwards, we were climbing back up again, speedrunning the divisions, back to our former glory of division 3 (and soon enough division 2). Now we stand here again, above our rivals in Uzbekistan, below our brothers in Kazakhstan and we come to the conclusion that this might have been our best season to date.

While of course we did not achieve the most points to date, we did score 9 victories and 26 results, including Mihail Terziev's win at the Oddyssey of the Oryx, which was remarkably close. His TT capabilities did save the day there. In general, we owe a lot of thanks to Terziev and our long lost Bulgarian brethren: he won another 3 races, and achieved results in another 5, including coming in second in Uzbekistan.

Although to a lesser degree, Dario Piza also turned out to be instrumental for our victories. Now that Dennis Meier is getting older, we need the young folk to spring to attention, which Piza does brilliantly.

More unexpected results came mostly in the lower divisions: from Uminski in division 6; Christian Duena coming in 3rd in division 8 in a sprint race; from Buturovich with the very first Turkmen second place in div 6; Mivsek also coming in second in div 6; Branco becoming third in div 7; Adaskin becoming 2nd in div 8; and Lazovic, who became third in a stage of the Oddyssey, despite not being the captain? And also casually becoming second in a division 7 race.

Now the eyes look forward to the future. Thanks to being absent, we had more money, from which we found Pavel, a 190+ cl talent; a compratriot for Choquet in the form of Isaac Guillot, who immediately can start captaining; and DH talent Gustav Langer coming in around day 35. Thanks to this young blood, our team will likely continue on to great new heights and I am looking forward to it.

The future is bright and exciting.
